Francis Maude supports SMCP plans to encourage Living Wage

The Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission has suggested that Government can do more to tackle low pay and child poverty, by strengthening the National Minimum Wage and encouraging payment of the Living Wage.

This sentiment echoes the stance taken by The Rt Hon Francis Maude MP and the Cabinet Office. Earlier this year Mr Maude confirmed by letterĀ to Citizens UK that "The Government's position is to encourage contractors to commit to paying a living wage".

The Living Wage Foundation has been working closely with contractors who support the Living Wage and will launch a contractor accreditation scheme during Living Wage Week 2013.
