What do I do if I know of someone who is being paid less than the National Minimum Wage?

It is illegal to pay staff less than the National Minimum Wage and is punishable by fines of up to £20,000 per worker.

As of 1st April 2025 the UK Government's Minimum Wage is: 

  • £12.71 (aged 21 and over)
  • £10.85 (aged 18 to 20)
  • £8 (aged under 18)
  • £8 (apprentice rate)

As of 1st April 2026, the UK Government's 'National Living Wage' is £12.71 and applies to all workers aged 21 and over.
