Recognised Service Providers

Recognised Service Providers are changing the industry for the better. By committing to paying all directly employed members of staff the real Living Wage and champion the real Living Wage in every client bid, they are helping essential workers afford their everyday needs.

A small change in how you do business can make a huge difference. By always offering a real Living Wage bid alongside every client bid, Recognised Service Providers ensure the client always has the choice to implement the real Living Wage at the point of tender.

To assist and guide the Living Wage Foundation with policy decisions, the Recognised Service Provider Leadership Group was formed. The Leadership Group lends its expertise to the Foundation to better Champion the real Living Wage within the provider industries.

What is a Recognised Service Provider?

We are proudly working alongside nearly 200  service providers in the UK to drive up standards in the industry, enabling those who operate in the lowest paid service sectors to demonstrate leadership on paying the Living Wage.

With over 250,000 service provision workers trapped in low paid work, essential jobs in cleaning, catering and security are too often undervalued and underpaid. Many of these roles are concentrated in service provision industries, where competitive bids for client contracts means wages get cut in order to offer the lowest price.

Service providers are often trapped between winning client contracts and paying staff fairly. Many want to do the right thing, but the final decision isn't always in their power.

The movement has been successful thanks to the constructive involvement of both our Living Wage Employers from a client side and our partners in the contracted service provider industries.

The providers we work with have seen the benefits the real Living Wage can bring and aim to champion the real Living Wage in their contracts with customers.

To commend contractors who support the aims of the Living Wage Foundation we established the Recognised Service Providers accreditation.
